This document describes the steps taken to install the 2560 PPD/Microsoft driver in Windows 2000 and XP. This document assumes that you have downloaded and extracted the file 2560wppd.exe. 1) Click on Start/Settings/printers (for 2000) Printers and faxes (XP) 2) Start the Add Printer Wizard 3) Click 'Next' on the Add Printer Wizard Welcome screen 4) If you are not sharing the printer off of another workstation select Local printer 5) Click 'Next' 6) Select the port to print too, then click 'Next' Or select "Create a new port" These steps will take you through creating a Standard TCP/IP port for a Minolta-QMS 2560 PrintSystem. If you are not Creating a port skip to step 7. A) Select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" for the Type B) Click "Next" C) This starts the "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" Select "Next" D) Type in the Printers IP address into "Printer Name or IP Address" The "Port Name" will automatically fill in with "IP_xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where the "x" represents the IP address. E) Click "Next" F) Select "Custom" and then click "Settings" G) Change the "Port Number" to "515" then select "LPR" H) Type "Port1" in for the "Queue Name" I) Select "LPR Byte Counting Enabled" J) Make sure that "SNMP Status Enabled" is not checked. K) Click "OK" L) Click "Next" M) Click "Finish" 7) When prompted to select a manufacture click on "Have Disk..." 8) Click on "Browse..." 9) Locate the directory that the files were extracted too. 10) Select "2560setup.inf" then click "Open" 11) Click "OK" 12) Select "QMS 2560" and click "Next" 13) Select a name for your printer or use the default, also select whether you want Windows to use this printer as the default printer or not, then click "Next" 14) Select whether to share the printer or not, then click "Next" 15) Select "No" for the test page. Do not print a test page at this time, Click "Next" 16) Click "Finish" 17) When prompted about the Digital signature not being found, select "Yes" 18) When the Wizard has finished Right click on the "QMS 2560", or the name you gave it, and select "Properties" 19) Click "Printing Preferences" 20) On the Layout tab Click "Advanced" 21) Click on the Plus (+) sign to the left of "PostScript Options" 22) Click on "Optimize for Speed" on the PostScript Output Option line 23) Click on the "Down arrow" and select "Optimize for Portability" 24) Click on "Automatic" on the "TrueType Font Download Option" line 25) Click on the "Down Arrow" and select "Bitmap" 26) Click "OK" 27) Click "Apply" 28) Click "OK" 29) Click "Print Test Page" Your driver is now installed and configured. You should get a Windows test page on your 2560 printer.
