QMSoft Installation for an IBM RS/6000

On the PS2000:
Communications/Administration/Languages/PCL4/Line Termination:
     change to CR=CR and LF=CR+LF

Untar the host software:
Load into /usr/lpp/QMSoft as instructed in the README file

Edit in /usr/lpp/QMSoft/AIX:
For all versions of QMSoft, edit "PS2000.asc":
     Search for ":321": change "ps" to "ascii"
     Search for ":324": change "ps" to "ascii"
     Search for ":144": delete all text following ":144:ci::"
For QMSoft 1.0 only, edit "qef.c":
     Line 427: change "SIGTERM" to "SIGKILL"

Installation pass 1 (PostScript)
This installation makes a PostScript printer.

Notes on naming:
The name of the printer is "QMSprt"
The printer queues are "ps" and "asc"

Run ./Qinstall in /usr/lpp/QMSoft
"No" to filtering
"Yes" to customize a logical queue
Force language to "postscript"

Mkvirprt:
Option 1: "Printer/Plotter attached to host"
Use a device for "null"
Option 15: "QMS Ethernet Printers"
Headers: (optional: "a" for all, "n" for none)
Trailers: (optional: "a" for all, "n" for none)
Queue: "ps:QMSprt"
Default Printer: "no"
ASC device: "1" to bypass

Edits in /usr/lpp/QMSoft:
Copy "qfilter" to "qfilter.ps"
Copy "preprologue" to "preprologue.ps"

Edit "qfilter.ps":
     Search for "PREPRO"
     Change "preprologue" to "preprologue.ps"
Edits in /usr/lpd/pio/custom:
Edit "ps:QMSprt":
     Search for "qfilter"
     Change "qfilter" to "qfilter.ps"

Test:
This produces a known good PostScript file:
     "enscript -dps -G /usr/lpp/QMSoft/README"

Installation pass 2 (ASCII)
This installation makes an ASCII printer queue

Run ./Qinstall in /usr/lpp/QMSoft
"No" to filtering
"Yes" to customize a logical queue
Force language to "pcl4"

Mkvirprt:
Option 1: "Printer/Plotter attached to host"
Use a device for "null"
Option 15: "QMS Ethernet Printers"
Headers: (optional: "a" for all, "n" for none)
Trailers: (optional: "a" for all, "n" for none)
Ps device: "!" to bypass
Queue: "asc:QMSprt"
Default Printer: "yes"

Edits in /usr/lpp/QMSoft:
Copy "qfilter" to "qfilter.asc"
Copy "preprologue" to "preprologue.asc"

Edit "qfilter.asc":
     Search for "PREPRO"
     Change "preprologue" to "preprologue.asc"

Edits in /usr/lpd/pio/custom:
Edit "asc:QMSprt":
     Search for "qfilter"
     Change "qfilter" to "qfilter.asc"

Test:
This produces a known good ASCII file:
     "enq -Pasc /usr/lpp/QMSoft/README"
