Downloaded Type 1 PostScript fonts to the Imagen IP/II Turbo. Follow the steps listed below to store and use Type 1 PostScript fonts on the Imagen printer. These steps are divided into two sections, downloading the font to the hard drive and getting the printer to recognize the fonts. Downloading the Font 1. Edit the Font file. Insert the line "@document(language fileutility, store fontname.its)" at the very top of the file so that it is the first thing in the file. The "fontname" has to obey the DOS restriction of 8 characters, and the ".its" is a required extension for the Imagen to understand the file is a font. 2. Print this edited Font file to the printer. If on a UNIX or VAX system, the queue used MUST NOT add any set-up files or forms to the beginning of the job. Note: The "fontname" has no connection with the actual font. It is only used by the Imagen to call this Font into Virtual Memory (instructions below). Making the Font available (loading the Font into Virtual Memory) Note: The Imagen IP/II Turbo uses a file called "ixp_init.ps" to initialize the UltraScript language. This file in turn run "startup.ps" if the file is on the disk. Before you continue with the following steps, make sure that the "startup.ps" file does not already exist on the hard drive of the printer. If this file does exist, you will need to get a print out of this file in order to re-enter the code into the new "startup.ps". To print this file, do the following: A. At the console, press "S" for SET and then "D" for DOCUMENT OPTIONS. The console will display any current settings and request a you to press ENTER to confirm you want to enter a change. Press ENTER and at the prompt type "language printer". B. Again at the console, press "P" for PRINT FILE, and at the prompt type "startup.ps". The "startup.ps" code will be printed. 1. With an editor, create an ASCII file called "startup.ps". 2. Enter the following: @document(language fileutility, store startup.ps) %! (fontname.its) run 3. Exit and Save this file. Note: The code from an existing "startup.ps" will go between the %! and the (fontname.its) run lines. More fonts can be added by including a line for each as the original. EXAMPLE: %! %% Original startup.ps file goes here. %% (fontname.its) run (fontnam1.its) run (fontnam2.its) run etc........
