January 14, 2003 - Mobile, AL – MINOLTA-QMS,
Inc. today announced the release of the magicolor 2350 EN, its latest
high-quality, low-cost network color laser printer. A 'big brother' to
the award-winning magicolor 2300 DL, the 2350 EN offers the same compact
size and great value, while sporting true-to-life photo quality output
and broad compatibility support. Designed with convenience in mind, the
magicolor 2350 is an easy-to-use color laser printer with a price that's
also easy on the budget—only $1,099 (est. Street).
"There's never been a better time for businesses to add color laser
printing to their office equipment roster," said Stephen Fletcher,
president and COO for MINOLTA-QMS. "The magicolor 2350 is priced
right, is extremely user friendly, and can serve small and large companies
alike. More importantly, with its exceptional color quality, the magicolor
2350 can significantly enhance printed communications and help businesses
gain that important competitive advantage."
Outstanding Output
The phrase "what you see is what you get" holds true with the
magicolor 2350. Using Photo ART technology, the printer is able to offer
up to 9600 x 600 dpi-class print resolution for true-to-life photo quality.
Additionally, the magicolor 2350 uses a new polymerized toner formula
that's composed of smaller, more uniform particles for creating finer
lines and text and smoother halftones.
The magicolor 2350 supports a variety of office papers (up to 8.5"
x 14") including recycled and plain copier paper, transparencies,
labels, heavy stocks, and envelopes. All media types can be used in the
printer's 200-sheet multipurpose input tray, which adjusts to handle any
of the approved paper sizes. If additional input is needed, a 500-sheet
feeder is available. An automatic duplexer for two-sided printing can
also be added.
A Flair for Flexibility
The small size of the magicolor 2350 is appealing for space-deprived desktops.
Measuring just 14" wide x 19.7" in depth and weighing only 55
lbs., the printer's a good fit when room is a precious commodity. There's
more to the magicolor 2350 than just "curb appeal," however,
as its flexible operating design indicates:
• Fast Speed: Printing up to 18 ppm (letter) in black and
white, the magicolor 2350 keeps pace with the typical, workgroup monochrome-only
laser printer, making it a comparable replacement for this type of product.
Plus businesses get the added bonus of printing in color at up to four
pages per minute.
• Complete Compatibility: One of the reasons the magicolor
2350 is suited to many markets—from general office to creative graphics—is
its standard emulations. Languages supported by the magicolor 2350 are
PostScript 3, PCL 6, and PDF 1.3 (hard disk required). Its PCL 6 implementation
includes PJL, making the printer a "plug and play" replacement
for similar HP products, while its PostScript 3 emulation makes it a good
choice for both PC and Mac environments.
• Broad Networking: To support small businesses, small work
teams, or individual users, the magicolor 2350 is equipped with 10/100BaseTX
Ethernet, USB, and parallel ports. Bluetooth and 802.11b wireless technologies,
as well as Token-Ring interfacing, are also supported via external third-party
options.
For Convenience Sake
The magicolor 2350 EN is proof that performance and convenience can coexist
in a color laser printer.
• Crown X: The magicolor 2350 is based on Crown X—a
next-generation technology that focuses on ease-of-use, quality, and compatibility.
Crown X streamlines the set-up and installation process, automates printing
activities, reduces user intervention, and makes for seamless printer
integration into existing applications and environments. Crown X ensures
that quality, in terms of both printed output and in product workmanship,
is consistent and reliable. When referring to compatibility, Crown X-based
printers include a complete set of emulations, drivers, and networking
features to enable successful, seamless, and convenient printing.
• Total Printer Management: The magicolor 2350 includes driver
support for Windows®, Mac®, and Linux®. For individual users,
PageScope™ Light, a built-in Web tool, provides a quick method for
checking printer and print job status via the Internet. Network administrators
can rely on PageScope Net Care to manage and monitor the magicolor 2350
and other printers across the network. This robust Web-based software
allows administrators to easily configure and set options on network printers
as well as receive real-time printer information such as consumable status
and required maintenance.
• User-Friendly Supplies: Pre-installed and user-replaceable,
supplies for the magicolor 2350 are easy to maintain. With gauges viewable
via PageScope Light, consumers will always know how much of each supply
is available for their print job.
• Hard Disk Functionality: With the hard disk functionality
kit installed, the magicolor 2350 provides advanced convenience features,
including Job Accounting, electronic collation, direct PDF printing, as
well as Proof then Print, Secured Job, Print & Hold, and Stored Job
functions.
An Edge on Affordability
The magicolor 2350 EN is priced at only $1,099 (est. Street), making it
an incredible value for a full-featured, network color laser printer.
"With this latest product addition, MINOLTA-QMS continues to lead
the charge in the development of low cost, high-performance color lasers,"
Fletcher concluded.
